Career
Opportunities

This specialization prepares students for careers in radioactive waste management and treatment, as well as careers in the decommissioning of nuclear installations of all kinds.

The training provided in this specialization leads especially to the following positions:

  • Research engineer in charge of defining the nature and phasing of decommissioning operations, and of designing storage and disposal solutions
  • Construction engineer in charge of on-site operations supervision and monitoring
  • Operations engineer at waste storage and disposal facilities

These positions are to be found with the following employers:

  • Electronuclear plant operators (such as EDF, GDF SUEZ, etc.) and operators of other nuclear installations (AREVA, etc.), both in France and abroad, who are in charge of decommissioning their installations
  • Waste management and storage organizations, both in France and abroad (example: ANDRA in France)
  • Companies, large and small, involved in dismantling operations and work related to storage and disposal
