The Résidence des Élèves de l'École Centrale, a limited company for low-rent student accommodation, in which the Société des Amis is the main shareholder, was created in 1925, rue de Cîteaux in Paris, by Léon Guillet (1887).

Due to the transfer of the École Centrale to Châtenay-Malabry, a Hall of Residence, larger and better adapted to the modern conditions of life, was constructed next to the new École; it was inaugurated on the 17th October 1969 by Georges POMPIDOU, the French President.

This Hall of Residence comprises 12 houses (a total of 1,330 beds): 9 houses with 898 single rooms, 1 house with 116 double rooms, 1 house with 64 flats for married students, a new international house with 136 single rooms.
It also includes a group of buildings incorporating cultural, leisure and sporting facilities: a library, A discotheque, A music room, A sports hall, Meeting rooms, Various workshops, An auditorium with 300 seats, Various workshops, A bar - cafeteria.

In return for the payment of a service charge, the students in the École can benefit from very appreciable advantages. Apart from the fact that it allows engineering students to live on the same campus as the École, the Maison des Élèves offers its residents a community life that is both intense and convivial. This community life allows the engineering students to complement their training with varied activities that allow them to develop and cultivate their sense of responsibility and team spirit.

The Résidence des Élèves is administered by a Board of Trustees and its management is ensured by Didier Bost, who may be contacted regarding any enquiries about the conditions for admission.

This company with a capital of 350,000 Euros is a subsidiary of the École Centrale Paris. It was created in 1986 with assistance from the Association des Centraliens and the Société des Amis de l'École Centrale.

Centrale Recherche S.A. is a tool for the development of research at the École. Its vocation is to promote the skills of the research teams of the École in industry and to capitalize on the results obtained. It plays a part in prospecting, negotiating and managing relationships, which bring together the Research Centre laboratories and outside partners who wish to work with the École.

Centrale Recherche S.A. relies upon the scientific and technical potential of the laboratories to propose contracts to industry. In return, Centrale Recherche S.A. provides these laboratories with additional personnel and equipment.

An agreement exists between Centrale Recherche S.A. and the ECP where all the research is carried out. In particular, the areas of scientific development and research remain the sole responsibility of the École, which is free to accept or refuse any of the contracts proposed by Centrale Recherche S.A.

Centrale Paris Développement, set up in 1909, has received from the Centralienne Community a double mission that can be synthesised as follows:

• set up the most favourable conditions for students' life on the campus of the School,
• support the projects of development of the School.

Role of Centrale Paris Développement towards the students.
It contributes with force to the accommodation of the students on the campus to favour the life, the activity and the spirit of camaraderie, insures the support of the students in financial difficulties, facilitates their international complementary studies and makes its contribution to the associative activities of the campus on a cultural, sports, social and humanitarian basis.

The residence of the students offers 1320 places in single, double rooms or studios. It provides a forum, bar, amphithéatre, a television studio, etc. and an up-to-date computer technology.

Moreover, Centrale Paris Développement grants a financial support (in the form of scholarship or of caution money of loans) to the students admitted on competition, on title for a period of their schooling:

• the Solidarity fund is dedicated to the students (French and foreign) in large financial difficulty, and complete the emergency supports granted by the Relief fund of the School;
• the Cup Inter-promotions (an annual competition of fund raising between the Promotions of the millennium of the year) grants scholarships or caution money of loans to students willing to pursue their schooling in foreign universities, the costs of registration of which are very high.

Finally, Centrale Paris Développement can grant to deserving students loans of honour financed by donations and specific legacies made in this way.

The associate activity of the students arouses their entrepreneurship and the assumption of their responsibility, the SDA intervenes with Clubs and association to encourage the cultural, social, humanitarian and sportive activities.

The role of Centrale Paris Développement in favour of the School
Centrale Paris Développement finances the doorstep selling, by the engineers students, industrial and commercial companies, to recover more than 2 million euros annual of the Apprenticeship tax. It intervenes in favour of sports by the development of the sports installations, such as the construction of a tennis, a purchase of a boat for the rowing club, participation in the implementation of a new climbing wall and the financial support in the functioning of the sport activities.

Centrale Paris Développement insures the management of partnerships concluded between companies and the School.

These contracts generate rates paid to Centrale Paris Développement by the Company Partner which serve for supporting financially the activities of the Paris Central School in several domains:

• Options and fields: this notably covers the journeys of the third year with regard to the visits of companies belonging to the domains of options and scholarships.
• Stationary of equipments in the laboratories of the School: the laboratory equipments necessary for Training and for Research must be ceaselessly completed and modernized, the Partnership managed by Centrale Paris Développement> allows to finance new equipments necessary for the laboratories of the School, and to appoint them to teachers and researchers.
• Detachment of staffs with the School: Centrale Paris Développement also contributes to the functioning of the School by removing staffs on general assistance positions, according to the specific needs of the Management.
• Financing of actions related to the improvement of the education and to the development of the School.
