M2 Aerospace Engineering
The Aerospace Engineering specialization of the Applied Sciences field prepares its graduates for research-oriented activities. It targets scientific and technical R&D positions in the aeronautics and space industries. This training is thus designed for careers in academic and industrial research centers, engineering departments and consulting, and higher education.
Pedagogy
This Master's program is organized around a common core of 4 blocks of 4 ECTS each-covering fluid dynamics and turbulence, propulsion and aerodynamics, numerical simulation and applied mathematics, and reactive media-as well as a dedicated training in English of 4 ECTS, designed in conjunction with the Language Department. The Master includes 12 ECTS of methodological courses distributed over both M2 semesters as well as a project, which confronts students directly to research questions in the first semester.
Students take a combination of 4 elective courses, chosen from among 11, over both semesters so as to diversify the curriculum and allow for the multidisciplinary approach necessary to the development of research in the field of aerospace engineering. Three emphases are possible- Control and Systems, Mechanics of Structures, and In-Depth Mechanics-but these depend more on the student choices than on preset curricula.
Career Opportunities
This specialization prepares students for either immediate professional placement or further doctoral study, in any of the technological domains of the aerospace industry: from the design and optimization of aerospace launchers to the control of satellite trajectories, the aerodynamic design of drones, and the modeling and simulation of turbulent combustion in turbo-reactor combustion chambers.
Job opportunities are enhanced by the program's close contacts with major companies in the related industries: SNECMA Moteurs, Grosse propulsion (SAFRAN Group), Dassault, EADS Group: Astrium, Airbus, Eurocopter, MDBA, and ST.
